Dynamic Performance Racing Goes 190 MPH in Infinity-Tuned SFWD,
Sets New MPH Record and Wins IFO Event at Atco Raceway!
Rolando Blanco piloted the AEM Infinity–tuned, EatSleepRace Sport Front Wheel Drive (SFWD) drag EK Civic to a new MPH record in the class at Import Faceoff on April 2nd at Atco Raceway in New Jersey, with an 8.26 @ 190.38 MPH pass in its first trip down the track of the season! The team went on to win the event with a final round pass of 8.24 @ 186 MPH, which is a new personal best elapsed time (ET) for the team.
Bragging rights to be the first SFWD drag car to go 190+ MPH has been chased by teams across the Eastern seaboard for five years, and Blanco, along with team members Paul Protacio, Allan Jimenez, Bart Weiss and tuner Felix Medina were once again the first to eclipse the barrier. “We are proud to say we did it first!” exclaimed Protacio, “It's always been in our genes to push the barriers of this sport and we've succeeded once again in 2017 on our very first pass of the season!”
The team is no stranger to setting benchmarks in SFWD drag competition. They were the first team to run an 8-second ET in 2010 (on a 24.5-inch tire), the first to run an 8-second ET using a Honda K-Series engine in 2011, first to break the 180 MPH barrier in 2012, and again breaking the 190 MPH barrier last weekend. “We achieved all of our records and wins using an AEM EMS system, from the Series 1 EMS we installed in 2010, the Series 2 we installed in 2012, and now the Infinity ECU, which we started using in 2014”, commented Protacio.
The DP Racing team relies on many AEM Electronics products to achieve consistency, wins and record setting performances, including an Infinity 708 ECU, 4-Channel UEGO Wideband Controller, AQ-1 Data Logger and multiple AEM sensors. All of the parts the company uses for its customer builds are tested and used on their record-setting drag Civic.
The team’s next event is OGS1320 HDay at Englishtown Raceway on April 8-9.

The Infinity ECU makes state-of-the-art ECU technology affordable for both professional teams and amateur racers. Built around a latest-generation 32 bit floating point 200MHz automotive processor and Real Time Operating System (RTOS), the Infinity is capable of processing 400 MIPS (millions of instructions per second). To our knowledge, the Infinity ECU currently has the fastest processing speed of any aftermarket Motorsports ECU available. This processing speed combined with a RTOS provides more accurate ignition timing for increased power, more responsiveness to truly custom tailor the driving experience to the driver, allows the Infinity to perform more computational features without a sacrifice in processing performance, and enables tuning of features and sub strategies without affecting other features and sub strategies. It allows you to do more, faster, in a more stable programming environment.
